Diary Of A Survior
Mixed Media piece.
This piece is about the marriage I entered into with someone I was not in love with at a very young age.
Because of my upbringing (Catholic, Latina, and later Pentecostal upon moving to the USA ...) I found it very hard to leave a very unhappy "union".
It took me years to muster the courage to face my family and a society I had imagined would never forgive me-- to finally leave.
I survived what I felt to be a "jail" .... I was able to unearth myself, liberate my heart, and remove the nails from my thoughts:
I survived to discover and know myself.
Indeed, I survived to love.
Note:
1.-Drawings by my cousing Nicole Keller when she was a child.
2. There is a missing piece on this -new photo to be uploaded soon! with piece (on upper let hand side) in place).
